On June 27, 2006, Eagle Materials Inc., a Delaware corporation, (Eagle), announced that it was increasing its earnings guidance for its first quarter and fiscal year 2007. Explanation of Non-GAAP Items EBIT represents net income, plus interest expense (less interest income) and provisions for income taxes. EBIT is a non-GAAP measure that provides supplemental information regarding the operating performance of our business without regard to financing methods or capital structures and is used as a benchmark for evaluating the creditworthiness of particular issuers. EBIT should not, however, be considered as an alternative to net income, operating income, cash flow from operations or any other measure of financial performance in accordance with GAAP. EBIT for fiscal 2006 of $247.4 can be reconciled to net income by adding to net income the following amounts: interest expense, $6.3 million and provision for income taxes, $80.1 million. |
